Emily Gravett and Philip Reeve have been announced as winners of the CILIP Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Medal Awards .

Best New Illustrator, Emily Gravett, won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal for the second time in three years with her fourth book, Little Mouse’s Big Book of Fears. Her book, which explores the many phobias of a nervous mouse, features nibbled pages and a fold-out map of the Isle of Fright.

Phillip Reeve won the Carnegie Medal and cited previous winner Rosemary Sutcliffe as one of the inspirations behind Here Lies Arthur - his retelling of the King Arthur Myth. His tale portrays King Arthur as a flawed character under the control of Merlin, an early spin-doctor.

The awards were presented by Michael Portillo – chair of this year’s Man Booker Prize, at a ceremony at the British Library on 26th June.
